Starting PT
DH went for first therapy session today. I guess 50-60% of the meniscus had been removed during surgery. Well, anyway, DH wasn't in too bad of shape when we left. He wanted to go to Olive Garden for lunch afterwards.
He can gradually go to no crutches outside and has been encouraged to go crutch-less in the house. So now I am not the chief, cook and bottle-washer full time. Yeah! He's not complaining much...
PT three times next week - it had better not snow! I don't do well on wet, icy, or snowy roads anymore. Have tomorrow off and then Friday again. Let me tell you, it's gonna be a long two weeks and then we don't know what happens. I don't care if we go out to eat or not.
I'm tired.

DH knee surgery went well
Just got home from DH's surgery - he had what the doctor called a torn meniscus - I saw the pictures, looks more like shredded to me. We were gone almost six hours, I am tired, feel like a pack mule and he can't drive for at least two weeks. We will be doing PT in town 2-3x a week, seeing the doctor, and taking paperwork to the office once a week.
Pray for my sanity!

Aliens in the night
I didn't get to bed until late last night. I didn't program the Roomba,
because I didn't know what time DH's surgery was on Monday. I didn't want it to get full or hung up while I was gone. So... I went to bedand
had barely gotten to sleep when I heard a "beep, beep, bee, dah, la, beep" and the room was bathed in green light as the Roomba crawled off it's dock and began cleaning! I tried to find the remote to send it back to the dock as it swished under the china cabinet, backed up and went the length under the cabinet and headed for the telephone table. I tried to grab a sock just as the greedy beggar sucked it up. It stopped and kept telling me "Clean Brushes" over and over, the 'full light' was glowing and there was no way it would shut off! It wouldn't be happy until I took care of it. I hadn't even unpacked the brush cleaners yet! After I took care of it's problems, I set it back on the dock and unplugged that puppy! It was after two a.m.! I lay there trying to get back to sleep for a couple of hours. DH had been watching a late, late movie, not saying anything. When asked why he didn't come, he said it probably had a default schedule. Butter wouldn't have melted in his mouth.

Letter From Home 112112
Dear Family, Friends and Foes,
I hope this
finds you all as well as possible and enjoying this week. Some of us are having
Thanksgiving others not. DH will be grilling tomorrow. He bought us porterhouse
steaks and a German chocolate cake. There's other stuff too, but these are the
most important as far as I'm concerned.
This was an
important week for me. I finished my NaNoWriMo w/50737 words. Congratulations
to all the Wrimers that have or will complete their task! It was an eight
ticket ride. My computer seems to be having more and more problems so I
validated the word count before I lost the important things. (Like the cookies
to get where I want to go) I'm hoping Santa will bring me a new laptop for
Christmas, this one has been on about 12 hours a day – everyday - for nearly three
years. The CD no longer writes. The card reader does not work…
DH is laid
off, it is his second week home and he finally decided to do something. He is
painting the porch rails. He wanted copper – like the roof. It isn't. It's
orange - like the pumpkin. I suggested he cut out a couple of "T"s
for Tennessee as if he were a supporter of the team. At least people wouldn't
think he was a complete idiot. He will never live this one down, that's for
sure. LOL! Tacky also has some orange on her, but she's working on it. Yuk!
I talked to
my cousin today, thinking she would be gone to her daughter's tomorrow. Her
daughter is sick, so dinner has been called off and so has their annual black Friday
shopping event. She was quite disappointed. If anyone has elderly neighbors –
please - take them a plate or invite them over. I cannot imagine sitting alone without a
computer on a holiday.
There is
not much more happening around here, taking it easy. I'll be busy on the phone
tomorrow trying to digest that huge steak. Y'all have a good one!

Fun at the Post Office
Going
into reverse it would seem. Recently we received a form letter from the USPS.
Our post office service has been one of the many to be "altered". Ah,
have been waiting for news of this ever since the word came out that they were
losing money and some services would get the ax!
Starting
rather soon, our P.O. will only be open four hours a day, until
"they" get all the forms back and have their meeting. I was not
really thrilled with the choices. Most likely our address will change. There is
also the possibility that we will have to get a P.O. Box in some other town and
go to fetch our own mail. (This of course, would cost that P.O. to have to add on to their building, hire another worker
or two and put in more boxes.)
I
wrote in their comment section that I just wanted to have my mail picked up and
delivered. I do not want to have to go pick it up (I seldom would - bills would
get unpaid). I do not want a different address (It would be confusing and more
than likely screw things up at the banks, our insurance companies, our tag
registrations and the list goes on).
Gawd,
just not what you would call a happy camper…

Lowering my standards
Just a little letter from home today.
Dear Friends and People who put up with me,
My helper came again today and did (?) her job. I have no choice but to consider it a job well done because I can't do it myself. I have decided that I have to lower my standards and be thankful somebody is cleaning up in here. Perfectionists do need a shrink... I like certain things done certain ways and I am just going to have to look the other way when the bowls are put in the wrong place or half the dust is left on a table. I can hope she catches the other half next week. Not everyone does things the same way as WE do it.

OAK!
DH
had his second trip to the doctor in as many days. Somewhere along the line he
picked up poison oak. (Remember, we both have bad eyes) He thought he had been
bitten by ants when he worked in the yard on Sunday. He felt like he had things
crawling around on himself and was brushing himself all over. I looked
carefully, I couldn't see anything. Maybe he had flea bites? Perhaps he had
gotten into a big nest of chiggers…
Yesterday
he looked like he had a bad case of mini-hives. I looked carefully and asked if
he had been in poison oak. He said no, he had just been out in the yard. His
eye was starting to swell shut, his nose was increasing in size and everywhere
he had big red blotches.
He
went to the doctor; they gave him a shot and anti-itch pills. He was in agony
it was making him really miserable. I don't think he slept much last night.
This
morning his eye was a little better but other spots were flaring up. He
scratched some of them (!) and the blisters on his hands were dripping all
over. He was to the point that he couldn't bend his fingers; I needed to drive
him to the doctor. She gave him Rx for anti-biotic for the beginning of impetigo
and a prednisone pack. At the drugstore he bought some more anti-itch lotion
for $10 (for crying out loud – kick 'em when they're down, I tell ya!).
I
read up online for home remedies and the only one I would trust would be the
Fels-Naptha that I haven't been able to find.
I
hope this new stuff does the trick, he is plum miserable.
