Busy, Busy, Busy

 Dear Friends,
It has been a busy week here. I must admit I will be glad when DH gets another job. He does get antsy sometimes.
I finished Tidewater and enjoyed reading it. I guess it is supposed to be as close as a person can get to the whats and whyfors, but I wished for a better ending. Very realistic as near as I can tell. It was rated 4.5 stars and I agree. Not quite a 5 but better than a 4.

Picture of "Brad" taken through the dirty, webby window in a hurry this morning. DH decided to take the Dodge to a car show first thing this morning. Only those who have seen the insurance commercial will understand the name.

Men and cars! DH and J decided to go check out this 1963 Mercury Comet as long as J was here to drive ours home. I will admit it looks pretty good, but Gee Whiz. I have been pleading with him to get rid of the other red car. This is all getting to be a bit MUCH!

J found a jardiniere on Mad Men and decided it looked like mine. I had to email him this picture for him to compare. I think mine is much prettier than the one he saw in the show. (Even with the dust and cobwebs) The one he showed me had a pedestal base, I have no idea if there ever was one for this one. (Long before I was born, probably before my dad was born.)

My little netbook arrived. For some reason, I cannot shut off the touch pad for the cursor. J says I should put electrical tape over it.  There is nothing in the files on disabling it, so maybe I can't. I prefer a regular wireless mouse. I cannot control the cursor with those stupid pads, I shake too much. The slightest wrong move on my part and the words start wherever ...

While going through my stuff yesterday, I found (again) some pictures that I need to scan and email to some family members. I don't know if I want to try out that scanning mouse or not, not until I can have absolute quiet to concentrate on the instructions.

Have a great weekend!

  1. If you connect a wireless mouse to your Netbook there will be an option for you to disable that touch pad. - I know. It's annoying. - Those cars are cool. :)

    1. Oh that stinks! Did you go to the control panel and right click on the mouse or touch pad? Usually an option will pop up to disable that stupid thing. I don't like 'em either.

  2. That Mercury Comet!!!! My very first car ... I paid $50 for it (with babysitting money) when I was sixteen years old. Mine was white though. I felt like such a hot shot picking my friends up for school in my very own car. I'm not sure if mine was a 62 or 63. It had the slanted back lights.. Loved that car.

  3. That is frustrating about not being able to disable your touchpad. It depends on both the brand of your Netbook and the version of Windows you are running. If you don't find the answer soon email me at artofconflicted@aol.com with the brand of your machine and what version of Windows you have. I teach computer classes and can usually get answers for you rather quickly.

I, too, use a wireless mouse as I find touchpads cumbersome.

  4. I had a 63 Comet years ago, had a six in it that I blew up racing a Corvair back from Everett, so I put a V8 in it. One in good condition may be worth more now than when they were new. My favorite car back in those days was my 64 Chrysler 300 Convertible, that baby loved to run at a hundred miles an hour.

    1. Yeah, has to be worth more now. We bought a Dodge back in '64 and it cost about $2,200! This is where I get my sticker shock mentality ...

    1. The majolica jardiniere belonged to one of my great-grand parents. I like it too. When I first inherited it, I thought it was ugly. I have since changed my mind. :-)

  7. I like Brad, love those old cars but don't have any. I used to have a Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe.

    1. There are still a lot of the old Fairlanes out there, a tad pricier than the Comet, :D. Start saving your money, if you want another one, Ha Ha. I've always wanted a Model T or A, and another Nova SS. ;-)

    2. As a retired Ford mechanic that pretty much knows those old fords inside out I can assure you that the Fairlane is a better car than the Comet's or Falcon's.

  8. Ah, yes, the "Brad" commercial. Husband despises that one! I don't care one way or the other, but let's hope your Brad fares better... And yes, the Husband drooling over vehicles can be annoying. In our house, though, it's the wife that does so, and probably a good thing, too, as she doesn't have enough funds for follow through. Just a lot of sighing and drooling... ;) I like the planter pot! I hope you can get the problem with your computer solved, I know my husband dislikes the touch pad on my computer, he forgets it, then like you say, off to the races! (One of the very, very few times I have heard Husband swear since we've been married!)

    1. DH has no problem with the touch pad and can't see my problem. He pretty much learned with it though and I have always used a mouse - plus his hands do not shake like mine. I will figure it out - in a day or two. I am playing with old photographs now and that is getting all of my attention.
