The Jewelry Box (Part 2)

I began sorting, ended up with it all over the bed. What a mess! I really can't remember when I packed up that tote, must be a couple of years or more. I forgot about some of it. Some of the boxes were taped or glued shut. I haven't looked at about half the stuff yet. It was time for bed and I had to pack it up again. I need a bigger room or an addition. There is a narrow path now to get to my computer. Yes, I about time for me to do something with this stuff and not put it all back into the closet. What, I don't know. The last time I gave any of it away, the guy was supposed to send me the cost to ship it. He didn't, he never thanked me either, but had the nerve to ask me if I had more! Jerk!
Just a portion

Some bits and pieces for repair and recreate.

One of the reasons crafters don't tell their husbands what they spend.

As yet untapped. Thinking maybe bead and chain curtain?

I know the little wicker box has real cheap rings, not silver or gold, mainly junk, but new junk. Haha. I know there are literal pounds of old earrings, some clip, some screw, some for pierced ears, some nice and some not so nice. There is a box of pins or brooches. Of course, there are the beads, some glass and some plastic and maybe some wood. (They are at the bottom of the tote.) There is a box of tacs ... from new to old, also a small box of Avon jewelry.

Maybe I should start gluing all this up for Christmas presents for my kids?
There are so many dainty things. Would be a way to use up some of those earrings too!

To be continued ...

  1. You have some very cool stuff! I can sure relate to your dilemma about downsizing it. That guy really was a jerk! That kind of stuff costs a small fortune at places like Hobby Lobby and Jo-Ann Fabrics. I would be inclined to make some Christmas presents out of your favorite things, before selling or donating it all. Your family will probably treasure it because it came from you. I've had good luck selling little things on e-Bay in groups of 25 or 50, even 100 with the kind of things you have. Art teachers in elementary schools might also welcome it.

    1. Yep, that guy was a jerk. I sent him some of my best stuff. Ungrateful ...
I won't deal with ebay at all anymore.
Hadn't thought about the art teachers, good idea, thanks!

  2. You do have a stash!!!! Yikes! -grin-

I have sewing things, which I simply have to throw out. Nothing to save. Pieces of this and that, which I will never use. Put it in a bag and dump it. Keep the usable stuff, in a simple container.

But have I done it? No!!!!!!!! -sigh-

I just let the fact of it, "hang over my head." How $&(()&^%$@$^ silly, is that?!?!?!

Good luck with you "taking the bull, by the horns"!!! And doing whatever you choose, with it.

Does anyone remember an old saying like; "taking the bull, by the horns"? ,-))))))))

    1. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Sigh.
I used to have a closet full of fabric too. Finally sold it at a yard sale for a pittance, before we moved in here. A move does help when downsizing.
You ask any serious crafter if they can easily give up their stash. We all say, someday ...
A lot of people still use the phrase, "Taking the bull by the horns." I'm one. :-)

    2. I did it. Took bags of lace, ribbons and threads, bags of yarn and needles, along with an unfinished jumper (sweater) and put it all in the bin at the local charity shop.

  3. What you did in the last picture would make a good gift. My husband gave me some "junk" jewelry at Christmas and I displayed it on burlap canvas, looks good.

  4. You definitely have your hands full with all of this, the possibilities are unlimited, just keep your eyes out for the jerks, it really ticks me off that he did that to you.

    1. There are jerks everywhere. I'm learning. :-)
I never planned on my hands not working well or my eyes going to pot when I put that stuff in my closet. I think most of us keep our crafts around for someday ...

  6. That's a LOT of stuff. Could you maybe sell it at or to a craft stall at a market, as odds and ends?
I like that Christmas Tree idea, that's pretty.

    1. That's the thing, I am not in good enough shape to go to a flea market and sit there. I barely get out of the house and when I do - I pay for it for days.

  7. Gosh Sharon I thought I was bad enough :). I've seen several of those 'trinket trees' done on velvet and they are intriguing. If you decide to make more as gifts you've got 5 months to do it in - then one to decide who's getting which one plus time wrapping and packaging lol

  8. I'm in the middle of sorting things out, though not such lovely things you have. It isn't easy to dispose of anything these days, unless we give it away. I like the idea of making Christmas cards with some of those little gems. Could you do that?

    1. My hands don't do detailed work anymore, not sure how anything will go. If I can pick something up, I could shake it where it shouldn't be. Ha Ha. Did think about trying to make resin paperweights with some of the gems. I've never done such a thing. Sounds cool, yes?

  9. Holy smokes, SJ! Reading this post and your last one.. You know I'm like a kid in a candy store! My mind whirled with all kinds of ideas. I love your Christmas tree. That is really cool and you certainly have plenty of treasures there to make more! :D

  10. The guy that took your jewelry with no thanks and no payment for shipping, then asked for more....rates #1 on the thoughtless list. No good deed goes unpunished. Which is horribly negative, but it seems that way sometimes:)
    Love the Christmas tree idea.
    You have a great one!

  11. HAHA...I know what you mean. I have about 6 or 7 of those slotted plastic containers full of beads. I love to make things from other jewelry that needed to be revamped.I have also made book marks with the beads to send to another country for the kids school books. Then of course I have made the beaded wind thingys to hang outside. Can't wait to see more.
